Climacool
is an insulated glass unit (also known as double-glazed
units) that is a hermetically-sealed combination of two
or more sheets of glass separated by a dehydrated airspace.
Desiccated spacers are dual-sealed with polyisobutylene
primary sealant and an organic (polysulphide or polyurethane)
or silicone secondary sealant, depending on the project
specifications and the application. Argon gas-filled units
are available to further improve the insulating properties
(reduce the U-Value) of a standard air-filled unit. The
glass sheets of climacool can be annealed, heat-strengthened,
toughened or laminated, and of equal or unequal thickness,
as needed, to meet building code requirements, safety
glazing standards and design requirements.
