Skylight
Creating a light well by using
glass in the roof is a popular way of introducing
light to central areas of a building. In addition
to the normal considerations of thermal and
solar control, sloping glazing is overhead glazing
and we need to choose glass that is safe. If
the glass forms part of an accessible roof area
then it may need to be treated as a glass floor.
FG Glass recommends that for overhead glazing
Lamisecure is used
because of its break characteristics. if broken,
the glass panes hold together and avoid any
injury. For double-glazing the lower pane should
be Lamisecure and
the upper pane need not be a safety glass. However,
if Glasshield (T)
is used as the lower pane then Lamisecure
must be used in the upper pane.

the load calculations to decide the best combination
for your specific construction needs.
